On the day of your reservation, our team walks you through a full safety briefing, shows you where all equipment is on board, and gives you local tips for navigating Lake Wylie. An optional 30-minute on-the-water training session is also available.

Do I need a boating license to rent a boat on Lake Wylie?

A boater's safety certificate is required unless you were born before January 1, 1988. If you don't have one yet, we recommend taking the online course through boatus.org/northcarolina. Bring your certificate and a valid photo ID on the day of your rental.

Renters must be at least 25 years of age with a valid boater's safety certificate. All renters are required to present a valid ID on arrival.

Is fuel included in the Lake Wylie boat rental price?

Fuel is not included — you only pay for what you use. We charge based on actual consumption measured by an onboard fuel flow meter. A $10 fueling convenience fee applies, so you don't have to return the boat with a full tank.

Yes. Our team is present at the dock from the moment you arrive until the moment you return. We're there for launch, available throughout your day, and ready to help you dock safely when you come back.

Do I have to clean the boat when I return it?

Accepted Answer

No. Our dock staff handles cleaning after every rental. A $150 cleaning fee applies only if the boat is returned with excessive dirt, sand, mud, or debris.

What is the cancellation policy for Lake Wylie boat rentals?

Accepted Answer

You can cancel up to 24 hours after booking for a full refund. Cancellations at least 7 days before your reservation receive a full refund less a $50 fee. Cancellations up to 72 hours before receive a 50% refund less a $50 fee. Cancellations within 72 hours are non-refundable. We recommend adding our Trip Protection Plan for flexibility.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my rental?

If unsafe boating conditions exist at your reservation start time and up to 30 minutes after, we will issue a coupon for the full dollar value of your reservation for a future booking. Forecasted or inclement weather alone is not a valid reason for a cancellation or refund — we recommend adding our Trip Protection Plan during booking.

How many people can fit on a pontoon rental on Lake Wylie?
